Zaurus C-3200 – broken for now…

1 van de mooiste PDA’s die er zijn en helaas is deze misbruikt…
Iemand is zo vriendelijk geweest om hem alvast te bekijken.

Hierbij is de flatcable van het toetsenbord losgekomen van het moederbordje.
Daarna heeft hij of zij geprobeerd het te redden door middel van een plakbandje in combinatie met papier om de flatcable op zijn plaats te houden…
Resultaat, geen beeld… Nu nog een fatsoenlijke manier vinden om het wel netjes vast te zetten.

One of the nicest PDA’s ever build and this one has been abused…
Somebody already checked out the inside of this beauty.

While checking the flatcable of the keyboard was pulled of the connector on the motherboard.
After that he or she tried to fix it with some tape and paper.
Result the screen stays off and black.
The battery indicator does work, so I hope this is the only problem the device has.

Sadly I have to find out a nice way to keep it on it is place…

Zaurus SL-6000N No. 2 – Broken

De tweede Zaurus SL-6000 gaf positieve hoop nadat de power-led gewoon netjes aanging bij het aansluiten van de power supply.

Vervolgens heb ik alle stappen uitgevoerd net zoals bij de vorige SL-6000 en kwam eigenlijk gelijk tot de conclusie dat het scherm kapot was.

Toch maar even het moederbord gechecked of de connector er niet goed in zat of lost zat van het scherm, maar ook dit is niet het geval.
Helaas scherm is kapot, alleen nieuw scherm kan deze Zaurus nog redden…. :(

The first signs where positive for this SL-6000, the power cable give a orange charging light. Using the power buttons doesn’t seem to do anything so it I tried the same trick as the first one.

After that the screen powered up but showed only a white screen with some colored stripes. So I also checked the little motherboard if the flatcable that is connected to screen is somehow loose or anything similiar.

Nothing seems to be wrong there, so I pulled of the front to check cable on the screen it self.
Also here no problems.

I am afraid this Zaurus can only be saved with a new screen…. :(

Zaurus SL-6000N No.1 – Fixed

Ook de eerste Zaurus SL-6000 was een makkelijk op te lossen probleem.

Het power-led ging netjes aan bij het aansluiten van de adapter, dus daar was niets mis mee.

Hij reageerde niet op de power knop, ook niet na het verwijderen van de batterij.
Volgende stap is dan om te kijken of hij in Maintenance-mode wel zijn werk doet.
Hoe je dit doet kun je hieronder in het Engels lezen.
Na wat check-ups in de maintenance-mode werkt hij weer zoals het moet.

  • Remove the battery

  • At the bottom you will see a small switch –> set this to OFF
  • Place the battery back and lock it. Be sure to connect the power supply.
  • Now hold the D + M buttons on the keyboard and press the Reset on the back. This will activate the Maintenance mode, now do all the options to be sure your device is ok. After all checks be sure to press the power button to check the power saving state. (FYI: D + P buttons and the reset button will open Diagnostics mode)
  • Now press the reset button again.
  • The device will boot normally.
  • Now you will get a notice that the battery not enough charged or the Battery switch is still on OFF.
  • Disconnect the powercable and remove the Battery.
  • Push the switch back to ON and put back the battery and power cable to start your device.
  • Your device is ready to go!

Fixed Sharp Netwalker

Zoals verwacht was de Netwalker makkelijk te herstellen.

Het ging hier om een typisch gevalletje van brakke software, deze via het Recovery script opnieuw hersteld met een micro-sd kaart.

Hieronder in het Engels hoe ik dit gedaan heb.

As expected, the Netwalker was the easy one.

What have I done:

  • Ran the recovery script from Sharp itself, let it create and run it on the Netwalker.
  • Put the recovery Micro-SD-Card in the broken Netwalker and pushed the two mouse buttons and keep them pressed as I powerd on the Netwalker.
  • After the sharp logo it will ask to recover from the Recovery card you created, say Yes and there you go.

I also have a complete download so you don’t need that script, but I have to re-upload that one again.

So now I got some homework to do to get it all up and running again.

Zarafa 7.0.7 update

De mail omgeving is weer voorzien van de laatste update.

Het gaat hier om de Zarafa 7.0.7 update.

We are proud to announce the immediate availability of the final release of ZCP 7.0.7.

In the 7.0.7 release we fixed a lot of backend issues and offline sync issues. There should not be any sync issues anymore after you wake up your laptop.
For this release we included Ubuntu 12.04 packages. The 7.0.7 outlook client is also compatible with the latest update of outlook. This release also includes
Ubuntu 12.04 packages.

We zijn bezig met voorbereidingen om het server platform te updaten naar Ubuntu 12.04.
Dit word de opvolger van Ubuntu 10.04.

Wanneer dit in de planning staat laten we voortijdig weten.

Zarafa WebApp 1.0

Zarafa heeft WebApp 1.0 gereleased.

Dit alternatief voor de webmail is een stuk uitgebreider dan de Webaccess.
WebApp 1.0 draait momenteel een week op Lindoboom.nl en werkt zeer goed.

Today we can celebrate the 1.0 release of Zarafa WebApp after many technology previews.

The team have made many hours last months to get everything ready.

I want to thank customers and community members for their usefull feedback on new interface and general application.

We will continue with new features, improvements and many new cool integrations and widgets.
Like before we will launch every month a new preview version, so you can follow all new developments and give us feedback.

Druk op Webmail en je komt vanzelf in de nieuwe WebApp omgeving.
De oude omgeving is ook nog beschikbaar in het submenu.

Zarafa 7.0.6 update

De Zarafa server is geupdate naar versie 7.0.6.

In 7.0.6 we’ve done a lot of backend fixes. An improvement has been added to detect and indicate non supported Outlook 2010 versions. Also, ZCP 7.0.6 is extended with a verify utility to check whatever all data is successfully migrated by the zarafa-msr. As more recent Linux distributions will ship OpenLDAP standard with a dynamic backend, the standard Zarafa LDAP schema file cannot be applied anymore. This 7.0.6 will now also include a LDIF schema file for dynamic backends resolving this. This LDIF schema can be found in the /usr/share/zarafa directory.

Alles is weer up and running!

Zarafa 7.0.5 update

De email server is ge-update.

Zarafa draait nu op versie 7.0.5.

In 7.0.5 we made a lot of backend fixes. We fixed the Zarafa-Indexer optimization IO problems by scheduling the
optimization once at night. We fixed a issue that blocked installations of the ADS-tools on non-English installations.
Some issues with the auto-responder for resources are fixed and we updated the libvmime package to 0.9.2. One of the
new features in this release is the LDAP-paging option. This can limit the results of the ldap-queries that are done
by the server.
